Primary Asset Consulting

Efficiency Performance Improvement

Our passion and vision

Primary Asset Consulting has many years of experience working with small and large businesses. Its expertise ranges from working with a whole division or business unit to coaching executives in one-on-one sessions.

In every instance our passion is to increase personal productivity by challenging people’s logic and work habits.

Our focus is to challenge people in their thinking and work habits by creating a mind shift from what we call "reactive manager" to "proactive leader".

We change the lives of the people with whom we interact. It may sound like a very ambitious goal, but this ultimately is what drives us.

In dealing with our participants, our consultants’ aim is to make a difference. Comments such as “you have changed my life” or “I feel so much more in control and happy with my job” or “my performance has dramatically increased since I have worked with you” are the best rewards for a passionate team.

As someone said so rightly, "I don’t care what you know until I know that you care".

Our passion is to help people. Participants feel it and then are open to be challenged by new ideas and to change some of their work habits.

What We Do

Developing a Culture of High Performance

PAC’s EPI (Efficiency Performance Improvement) approach was founded to fill a growing need within organisations to assist individual executives, teams and divisions to improve productivity dramatically and to create a culture of high performance through efficient and effective work-behaviour.

It is our belief that in order for an organisation to fulfill its purpose, vision and corporate strategy there must be clear alignment between corporate, divisional objectives and the work habits and behaviour that an individual performs and displays on a day-to-day basis.

The traditional theory is that in order to scale and grow, whether the business is small or multi-national, it must be built on process.

However, an organisation is first and foremost built with human beings, who have their own behaviour, attitudes and motivations. They have their own ways of working, their own “personal processes” and varying degrees of personal leadership.

Even with the most robust processes, when people who are not engaged, motivated and personally operating at high performance are involved, the business suffers leading to less-than-optimum profits and significantly greater operating overheads.

From Reactive Manager to Proactive Leader

PAC’s EPI program specialises in creating a mindset shift and an underlying behaviour change regarding how people execute their work, the actual nitty gritty, on a day-to-day basis. This creates significant improvements in productivity that leads to an uplift in organisational performance.

Our approach focuses on moving leaders and their teams to a constructive, high-performance culture. It aligns their day-to-day activities with the strategy of the company. Leaders and teams learn to focus time and energy on high-return activities.

It is PAC’s contention, arrived at after working with hundreds of people in many industries, that individuals within organisations spend the main part of their efforts being “Reactive” or working in a "Crisis" mode. This does not mean they are not busy! Many people are struggling to keep up with the volume of work they perceive to be important.

Individual performance begins to excel and lead to top performance only when people are able to manage their workload in such a way that moves them into proactive or personal leadership within their role.

Top performers make a decision, learn new behaviour and embed themselves into their daily working lives. Even though those top performers face the same pressures as their peers, they make a conscious decision not to be “Reactive” and choose to focus on the 20% that is going to make 80% of the difference.

The problem of being able to move to proactive personal leadership, is compounded with the volume of work and an individual’s work practices Their personal work processes make them feel that there is ‘no space’ in their day to work on the high-value activities that are genuinely going to create a business result.

We believe “the devil is in the detail”. PAC’s EPI program literally gets down into the detail and we work with our clients to challenge their motivation, behaviour and personal work processes.

We focus on both Efficiency and Effectiveness by challenging the way people work on a day-to-day basis,

"Many companies spend a huge amount of time and effort in defining their long-term strategies and adapting their processes accordingly. Unfortunately most of the strategic initiatives are often either not executed or executed poorly.

People work hard but not always smart. There is a real opportunity to lift performance by aligning what people are doing on a day-to-day basis with the few activities which will have a long term impact on the performance of their business.

The key is to challenge their thinking as well as their work habits to create a strong mind-shift towards high performance."

Productivity

According to recent studies, two-thirds of corporate strategy is never executed. There is a real gap between company strategies, divisional goals, KPIs and that which executives, senior managers and teams do on a day-to-day basis.

Companies spend a lot of effort and resources in developing their strategy. They work with external consulting firms or the leadership teams undertake a number of in-depth off-site meetings throughout the year.

Amazingly, two-thirds on this is never executed. The issue is not often on the quality of the strategy and action plan decided, but how well these plans are turned into action by everyone.

People are working hard but not always working smart. There is often a misalignment between what they are supposed to do, what will have a long-term high-impact on the performance of their company and what they are doing on a day-to-day basis.

“Execution” and “Alignment” are two key words that summarise our approach.

At PAC, we assist our clients to develop a culture of high performance. We develop the leadership and execution skills of your people. We partner with clients to embed a set of key high-performance behaviour, skills and tools so that leaders and their teams are aligned with the key objectives of the company.

PAC partners with clients to assist:

  • Leaders and teams who are struggling to reach KPIs and divisional goals because of inefficient work practices
  • Teams which need to do more work with fewer resources as a result of downsizing or organisational restructuring
  • Sales teams to become proactive and to focus on high-value sales activities leading to increased revenue
  • Linking actual tasks performed by teams on a day-to-day basis to business initiatives that drive performance
  • Personal workflow and information management leading to teams spending more time on high-value business activities, and
  • Organisations to move through their growth curve by increasing the efficiency and effectiveness of their leaders and teams by embedding best practice high-performance behaviour.

Our Programs

PAC works closely with its clients to align what people do on a day-to-day basis with high-return activities. We help leaders and their teams focus on executing high-value business initiatives.

We work with people at an organisational, team and individual level in order to increase the time spent on high-value activities associated with reaching an organisation’s goals. We use project management principles through our implementation process in order to achieve measurable outcomes for our clients.

Four-Phase Engagement

When an organisation partners with Primary Asset Consulting we undertake a best-practice four-phase behavioural change project methodology to achieve the productivity improvements your organisation requires.

Phase 1: Alignment of Initiative

  • Meeting with key stakeholders to assess business drivers and key outcomes expected
  • Assessment of the performance gap between each team’s current state within the organisation as compared to expected productivity outcomes required
  • Executive-alignment workshop with key stakeholders to discuss observations, recommendations and the development of a solution roadmap
  • Agreement on measurable outcomes

Phase 2: High-performance Behavioural Change Project

  • Finalisation of high-performance behavioural-change project and customisation as agreed in executive-alignment workshop
  • Roll out of high-performance behavioural-change project
  • Measurement versus agreed key-performance indicators.

PAC’s approach is based on intensive group and one-on-one sessions to improve work habits. Behavioural change is initiated by working with leaders and teams at their desks while they are performing their work. Sessions are spread over a period of several months to ensure newly learned skills become second nature.

Participants are assessed, before and after the project, against performance criteria defined with the organisation and its leaders. This enables the sessions to translate to measurable business outcomes for the organisation and delivers strong personal gain for each participant.

Phase 3: Ownership

  • Coaching of each leader to become the sustainable-change agent for their team

Phase 4: Sustainability

  • Review of the change embedded with each leader
  • Re-enforcement of the new behaviour
