Primary Asset Consulting (PAC) principals and partners, with a collective experience of decades, coalesced in 2004 to create PAC and to dedicate themselves to providing a unique and unmatched service to their clients.

In addition to offering a first-rate executive-search and recruitment service, PAC recognised that improving the performance of leaders is directly linked to improving business profitability and job satisfaction. Executive Search


David Dawson
Managing Director

David is Senior Partner and Managing Director of Primary Asset Consulting Pty Ltd.

Australian born, his university education was undertaken in Switzerland in the early 1990s.  David was an honours graduate and on completion of his studies he accepted a position in Moscow, excited by the prospect of working in a society which was adapting to a new openness and a massive restructuring.  He remained in Moscow for five years, consulting for local firms and international corporations and eventually establishing an executive-search business.

David returned to Australia in 1999 to join a leading executive-recruitment firm for which he built a highly successful financial-services practice.

In 2004 David established Primary Asset Consulting to extend the high quality and innovative financial-services options he had developed.    

David has been the driving force behind the evolution of creative financial advisory services including team lift-outs, funds-manager incubation, acquisitions and divestment.  He specialises in C-level, executive and leadership roles.

Primary Asset Consulting now is recognised as one of Australia’s most successful financial-services search and advisory specialists.  Its highly skilled consultants and associates manage a client list which includes top Australian and international financial corporations and banks.   

PAC and its associates operate from offices in Sydney, Melbourne, Hong Kong and Singapore.

John Pappas
Partner

John is a Partner at PAC whose background in financial services includes more than 12 years working in global financial markets with diversified industry exposure and strong expertise in company analysis, market-sector analysis covering various treasury products (FX, commodities, IR, risk origination), managed funds, trading and broking, M&A/origination and IPO as well as business advisory.

John’s experience includes several years running the Banking and Financial Services Division of a leading global executive-search company with operations including Singapore and Hong Kong.

John’s executive-search assignments cover a range of successful domestic and international appointments throughout the Asia Pacific region with a focus on capital markets.

Garry Medland
Partner

Garry is the Partner responsible for managing PAC's Insurance Practice. He has over 12 years executive-search experience covering many areas of financial services with specialisations in insurance and superannuation. 

Garry has successfully sourced specialists, senior managers and executives across distribution, operations, strategy, product and marketing both domestically and internationally for clients throughout Australia. 

With an ever-increasing demand for specialised talent within insurance, benefits and superannuation in Australia, Garry’s deep knowledge of the local and global markets combined with his skill in running a highly intensive and rigorous search process provides PAC’s clients with unprecedented access to the best talent available.

Warren McAuley
Partner

Warren is a Partner at PAC and has over twenty years of experience in funds management and institutional broking. He has held a number of senior-management positions in Europe and Asia Pacific with companies including UBS Asset Management, Deutsche Morgan Grenfell, HSBC Securities and SBC Warburg.

Warren's in-depth financial services knowledge and expert consulting skills have enabled him to achieve significant success and a powerful reputation in business advisory and executive search in the funds management industry. His experience extends across both the Australian and global funds management markets.

Warren's specialties include senior-level Funds Management / Asset Consulting appointments, team lift-outs, manager incubations, business partnerships and acquisitions and the divestment and purchase of assets.

Eva Riou
Head of Global Research

Eva is Head of Global Research for PAC. Prior to this role Eva spent nine years in the funds management industry in Europe, based in France.

She began her career in 1999 as a Performance Attribution Analyst for Société General Asset Management (SGAM). In 2003, Eva joined the business-intelligence team, where she was responsible for the competitive-positioning analysis of the worldwide SGAM funds. In 2006, Eva integrated the Multi-Asset Management team as a fund of fund manager. She built the open architecture process and developed extensive relationships with boutiques across the European and Asian regions. Before her departure for Australia, Eva was managing 1.1 billion Euro.

Eva holds a Masters Degree in Banking and Finance from the University of Paris (the Sorbonne) and won a Lipper Award for the management of the SGAM Euro Aggressive Balanced Fund.

Simon Smith
Coach

Simon Smith is a qualified coach and trainer. He specialises in business, executive and career coaching and is passionate about making a difference in people’s lives and helping them achieve their professional and personal potential.

Simon has lived, worked and operated various small businesses in a variety of places around the world, including the UK, Borneo, Philippines, other parts of Asia and Central America.

Simon's career started with 10 years as a commissioned officer in the British Royal Air Force, directing Air Defense fighter aircraft and managing teams of up to 45 people in peacetime and non-peacetime situations.

Simon also holds qualifications in Small Business Management, Training and Assessment (TAA04), as well as mentoring qualifications and accreditation on the suite of GeneSys psychometric assessments (including a 360-degree feedback).

Kimberley Hannagan
Coach

As a consultant facilitator, mediator and coach, Kimberley has had a very diverse career. Her involvement in mediation, process management and coaching projects has seen her take up roles in settings ranging through manufacturing, IT, professional services and the healthcare industry amongst others. She has operated her own consultancy, managed a business networking organisation and lectured on MBA and other academic programmes.

Specialising in tailoring experiences to specific requirements, Kimberley is highly sensitive to the specific needs and interests of executives, teams and individuals.
